YSRP recognizes the work of The Fortune Society

YSRP applauds the Fortune Society, which has sued a private (giant) landlord over its blanket refusal to rent apartments to people with a criminal record: the policy automatically excludes people with records, regardless of the nature of the conviction, the amount of time that has lapsed since the conviction, evidence of rehabilitation, or any other factor related to whether a specific person poses any threat to safety. Practices like this prevent people from moving on with their lives and contributing to their communities.
