The Pennsylvania House Judiciary Committee voted to advance HB 1381 today, which YSRP hopes will usher in a more humane era of support and care for youth involved in the criminal legal system.

YSRP’s Co-Directors Lauren Fine and Joanna Visser Adjoian were profiled as “Fearless Children’s Lawyers of the Month” by the American Bar Association on March 19, 2021. In the article, they share the unshakeable truths that led them to launch YSRP seven years ago, and that persist today. Lauren states:
“If the [legal] system respected the value and dignity of young people, it wouldn’t be a system that incarcerates children.” Joanna agrees: “We as a nation are addicted to caging primarily Brown and Black children and we need to address that addiction.”
