The Pennsylvania House Judiciary Committee voted to advance HB 1381 today, which YSRP hopes will usher in a more humane era of support and care for youth involved in the criminal legal system.
On Monday, September 26, YSRP Co-Director Lauren Fine will give a public talk at the Bala Cynwyd Library. Fine will talk about YSRP and our work supporting youth, their families and their lawyers during the sentencing phase of their trials, through their incarceration, and as they plan to return to their communities. Pennsylvania has more children sentenced to life imprisonment without parole than any other state in the country. Recent Supreme Court rulings require review of all these cases, and many youth will require YSRP’s support. This program will be held in the Bala Cynwyd Library Meeting Room. The event is free and does not require an RSVP. See the talk announcement here and read more in this front page article in the City Suburban News.
