Reentry Panel with Former Juvenile Lifers
On November 7, 2016, YSRP was honored to host a training for our JLWOP mitigation volunteers on reentry planning for folks who, as children, were sentenced to life without the possibility of parole and now have the opportunity for release thanks to recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions. We were honored to be joined by former juvenile lifers Danny Peters, Earl Rice and his daughter Crystal, and Arnold Holloway, who spent over 20 years on death row to talk, in an intergenerational way, about the challenges of reentry. The thoughtfulness, brilliance, humility, forgiveness, humor, compassion and resilience that each of our panelists showed was inspiring and humbling. We are lucky to know Danny, Earl, Crystal, and Arnold and to learn from them. We are also grateful to Drexel Kline School of Law for hosting this special event.
