YSRP Co-Hosts Film Screening of 15 to Life on July 27, 2015
Join YSRP and the Pennsylvania Coalition for the Fair Sentencing of Youth (PACFSY) for a (free) film viewing of 15 to Life on July 27 at 7pm at the Friends Center (1501 Cherry Street). Please also RSVP to info@ysrp.org so we can be sure to have enough food and drinks for everyone. 15 to Life chronicles the life of Kenneth Young, who was 15 when he was sentenced to life without parole in Florida after he was convicted of participating in a spree of armed hotel robberies with his mother’s drug dealer. The film highlights our country’s use of this extreme sentence for children like Kenneth–Pennsylvania has the highest number of individuals serving life without the possibility of parole sentences for incidents that occurred when they were children of any state in the country, and any country in the world (the US is alone in sentencing children this way).
